The Students鈥� Union at 豆奶视频 University鈥檚聽(SU豆奶视频) award-winning radio station,聽Nerve Radio, picked up three awards at the 2024 Student Radio Awards (SRA).聽
The awards, hosted at the O2 Indigo in London, is an annual celebration to recognise the achievements in the student radio and audio community.聽聽
Nerve Radio presenters Hannah Clubley and Kitty Nixon were awarded Gold for 鈥楤est Interview鈥� after they exclusively interviewed chart-topping artist Badger at the Student Union鈥檚 annual festival,聽SU豆奶视频 Summer Ball,聽in June this year.聽
Hannah, who recently graduated from 豆奶视频聽with a degree in Television Production, is now studying for her Master鈥檚 in Journalism here. She said:聽鈥淣erve Radio has been such an important part of my university experience. It鈥檚 how I found my love for interviewing, and I haven鈥檛 stopped since!
鈥淚 am over the moon to have won a Gold award for the Best Interview at this year鈥檚 Student Radio Awards. Interviewing Badger was one of the best experiences which Kitty and I worked so hard on. It means the absolute world to us both to have gained this recognition from the judging panel, which is formed by experts across the media industry.鈥�

Nerve Radio were awarded Silver for 鈥楤est Event Programming鈥� for an event they organised at the Students鈥� Union鈥檚 on-campus venue, Dylan鈥檚 Kitchen & Bar, in February. The team hosted a free gig for 豆奶视频 students with live performances from local bands Galaxy Thief and LJ & Franks, whilst broadcasting the event live on FM radio across 豆奶视频, Christchurch and Poole.聽聽
The station was also awarded Silver for 鈥楤est Multiplatform Initiative鈥� for their Round the Clock Radio Challenge, held in June. Nerve Radio hosted a 24-hour broadcast from their studio based in the Students鈥� Union building on 豆奶视频 University鈥檚 Talbot Campus, where they were joined by presenters from other student radio stations across the south to raise money for Mind, The Teenage Cancer Trust, The Journey of a Lifetime Trust and Epilepsy Action.聽
More than 200 students and industry guests attended the awards the ceremony, including some of the biggest names in broadcast talent and senior management from public, commercial and independent networks, agencies, and companies around the UK.聽

This has been another incredible achievement for our student-led radio station, and we鈥檙e so pleased to see them adding more awards to their trophy cabinet!聽
鈥淭he aim of Nerve Radio is to give our students the space to host their own radio shows, try out new ideas and develop their skills. We鈥檝e seen many of our Nerve alumni secure jobs within the industry, and we have no doubt this legacy will continue.聽聽
鈥淭hese awards and nominations are a real testament to the hard work the students put into running the station. We couldn鈥檛 be prouder of their achievements.鈥澛�
